TOP 10 YANKEES OF ALL TIME
With today being top ten Monday we are going to do a top ten that is a personal favoirate of mine. The top ten Yankees of all time. The Yankees are the greatest sports franchise of all time and have so many legends so we are gonna try to break it down to a top ten. All these players have won World Series and were big parts of the Yankees winning history. Also if you have any suggestions for a top ten you want us to do please contract me of comment the post and tell me.

10.) Reggie Jackson
When you have a nickname like Mr.October there is a pretty good shot you are gonna make the list. Jackson was one of the first big Yankees free agent pick ups in the 70s. Jackson spent five years with the Yankees winning two World Series. His most memorable one was against the Dodgers in 1977 when he hit three straight home runs in three straight at bats. Jacsons feet is one of the most memorable in World Series history and also gave him the name Mr.October. The main reason why Jackson is at ten and not higher is because he spent only five years with the Yankees.
9.) Andy Pettitte
In this most recent run of Yankees success none has been a bigger big game pitcher then Andy Pettitte. Pettite has been clutch since the early part of his carrer. Best example is his duel in the 96 World Series against the Braves and John Smotlz. Pettite has been on the Yankees for 7 World Series and has won 5 of them. Pettite is always a guy come playoff time the Yankees always can rely on. Even latter on in his career he is getting it done like in 2009 when he pitched the clinching game in every series ending game. Andy Pettite is big time to say the least.
8.) Yogi Berra
A lot of people say Bill Russel is the greatest winner in sports history. I think its Yogi. Yogi won 10 World Series in his career. Doing that is impressive enough add on that he was a catcher makes it more amazing. Yogi also played a little outfield in his career as well. Yogi won three MVPs in a row batted 285 and hit 300 home runs. For a catcher those are great numbers. In 1950 Yogi only struck out 12 times which is crazy when you put it into prospective. Yogi also managed the Yankees as well in the 70s and 80s. Yogi has done it all to say the least.
7.) Whitey Ford
The most underrated pitcher in baseball history. Since 1920 there hasnt been more dominate pitchers then Whitey Ford. Whitey was nicknamed the chairman of the bored for being the leader of the great Yankees teams from the 50s and 60s Whitey was the go to pitcher for the Yankees. No pitcher since 1920 has had a lower ERA or a higher winning percentage. Ford's winning percentage is .690, went 236-106 and had a 2.75 ERA. Ford pitched two shut outs in the 1960 World Series vs the Pirates which is something that is hard to do even to this day. This former Cy Young award winner and multipal time World Series champion is the greatest starting pitcher in Yankees history.

6.) Mariano Rivera
The greatest closer of all time its not even close. Rivera is a player we will never see again. He has dominated the sport by throwing one pitch. Rivera has the most saves in MLB history but that isnt why he is the best ever. His postseason career is second to none.Rivera has a 0.74 ERA , which is ridiculous considering that he has made 96 appearances. Which is amazing numbers. He has closed out 4 World Series and has been apart of 5. I may go as far to see no player in sports history has dominated their position the was Rivera has his.
5.) Derek Jeter
The great Yankees position player in the last 20 years. Jeter has done some amazing things in his Yankee career. He is the first and only Yankee to ever get 3,000 hits which when you think about all the Yankee greats that is an amazing feet. He is the captain of the team. He has been a guy who has been the biggest star in New York for over a decade and as has handled himself like none else. This is all with out talking about his playoff career. He was been 5 World Series and has been a big part in all 5. Even in the year they dint win in 2001 he still had some big moments like the flip play in the alds vs the A's. As well as the home run is game 4 of the 2001 World Series to become Mr. November. Derek Jeter is one of the greats post season performers in any sport of all time and for him to do it for the Yankees and in New York shows how special he is.
4.) Mickey Mantle
What Derek Jeter is to todays Yankee fan is what Mickey Mantle was in the 50s and 60s. In baseball history there might not be a more gifted player then the Mick. Mantle was one of the first 5 tool players. Mantle had raw power like none else he would hit balls the way none has ever seen in that time. His speed in the outfield was second to none. In 1961 Mantle and Rodger Maris did something special when they went after Babe Ruths home run record. While Maris broke the record Mantle was the fan favorite to break it between the injuries and being a player all Yankees fans loved. Mantle won MVPs and World Series had 536 home runs, drove in 1,509 runners on base, had 153 stolen bases and batted nearly .300. He was a triple crown threat every year. If it wasn't for injuries and his parting lifestyle the Mick really could have done some amazing things.
3.) Joe DiMaggio
You know your a pretty good hitter when you have had a 56 game hitting streak in your career. Joe Dimaggio is one of the greatest hitters of all time. Bating .325, hitting 361 home runs along with being a great center fielder DiMaggio was the king of New York in the 40s. DiMaggio will go down as one of the greatest hitters of all time. This Hall of Famer and all time great will forever be remembered in Yankees history.
2.) Lou Gehrig
It has always been known that if you were or are a Yankee that you were hated. Not with Lou Gehrig. He was hated by none and respected by everyone. Gehrig may very well be the great RBI guy in baseball history. He was a big part of the 1927 Yankees which is considered still the greatest team of all time. He was given the nickname the Iron Horse because he played 2,130 consecutive games. The only reason why the streak ended was because he took him self out of a game do to ALS. Along with Thurman Munsons death there is no other sadder end to a career then Gehrigs. Gehrigs career ended because of ALS latter renamed Lou Gehrig disease. His amazing speech at Yankee Stadium is still remembered to this day. It is amazing to think what he could have done if he dint get sick.
1.) Babe Ruth
Not many times Yankees fans thank the Red Soxs for anything but we do when it comes to trading us Babe Ruth. Since that trade the Yankees have won more championships then any team in professorial sports. Babe Ruth to this day is still a name people link with baseball. He was the first big star is baseball history.The old Yankee Stadium was named the has that Ruth Built because of the all the great things he has done there.The Babe had lead the league in runs scored seven times, hit and amazing107 triples, 130 RBI's in eight seasons and of course, he had the record of hitting 60 home runs in a single season and over 700 in a career. He also batted .342 throughout his career. To me Babe Ruths career home run mark is still more amazing then Hank Aron because he did it in less games and did it in a time when it wasn't easy to hit home runs. Babe Ruth is the biggest name in Yankees history and is the biggest name in baseball history. We will never seen another Babe Ruth.
