Who wins the 1992 Dream Team or The 2008 Redeem team?
With today being the fourth of July and we are a couple weeks away from the Olympics I thought it would be cool to look into a game I think every basketball fan would love to see. The 1992 dream team vs the 2008 Redeem team.
As you can see from both rosters above both teams weren't short of star power. From Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley for the Dream team. Then you go to the Redeem team with players such as Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Dwight Howard. So that wouldn't be an advantage either way. Yes 11 of the 12 dream team players were Hall of Famers that is true, but in fairness all the players that were on the redeem team are still playing today. Even though players like Kobe, LeBron, Wade, and Kidd are all but likely to go in.
Both teams would have big advantages over the other. For the Dream team they all were younger and more athletic. Where if you look at the Dream team other then Michael Jordan and maybe Clyde Drexler none was a real big time freak of a athlete. Magic and Larry were about to retire and there rest of the team had good athleticism but not like the redeem team. The Dream teams big advantage would be its size. Other then Dwight who is a legit big on the Redeem Team that can cover the likes of David Robinson and Patrick Ewing. You can even go farther down that the power forwards weren't as good with the likes of Karl Malone and Charles Barkley who would go up against Carlos Boozer and Chris Bosh.
When it would get down to match ups that is where the real fun is. Seeing LeBron covering Magic and MJ cover Kobe. With the point guard play seeing Jason Kidd and John Stockton go one on one two of the best floor leads of all time. The fun of seeing Dwight try and stop David Robinson as well. Seeing two top small forwards in Scottie Pippen and Carmelo Another go one on one testing them self's.Great shooters like Chris Mullen and Larry Bird facing off with the Redeem Teams Michael Reed. So in there lies so many fun things to think about watch.
The way I would see this one truing out is like this. I think early on it be back and forth with great play from both. I see all the stars stepping up and playing great the way we all know they could. I think as the game goes on the size of the dream team will play a big factor. With all the great and talented bigs they have controlling the boards and the paint. Another big factor is the ability of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen to shut Kobe,LeBron, and Wade. The latter in the game we get the better they will play on D. Which will lead to fast break point with Magic leading the break with Jordan and Pippen. To me as the game would go on the better the Dream Team plays and they would win. 110-90.
