Anthony Davis: Worth the hype?

This is Dylan Rafferty writing for Spinzz Sports.

The NBA draft is only a couple of weeks away and the one can't miss prospect this year is Kentucky's Anthony Davis. Every scout thinks he is a franchise savior and will be a star in the league for a long time. But is he worth all the hype?

I'll start off by saying I don't think Davis will be a bust but I don't think he will have the impact a lot of scouts and GM's think he will in the NBA. One thing that's certain about Davis is that he is a great defender. He blocks a ton of shots and alters a lot of others. He will be big time in that department. I think his offense is where he will run into trouble. He needs to improve his post game. He lacks a go to move. He also needs to gain a decent amount of weight because he is very thin. He has a nice mid range jump shot that he showed in college but for a 6'10 guy with a long wingspan he's going to need to play around the rim and in the post more then he will be outside.

When it comes to hyped up big men i get skeptical. A lot of these guys don't pan out weather it's because of injury or because they lack the skill and don't improve at all because they are lazy. Some scouts are throwing around Kevin Garnett's name when talking about Davis. I don't see that. I see more of a Tyson Chandler type of player which is fine but not nearly the type of player people are claiming Davis will be.
